Have you ever thought about the things you worry about?
Take a minute right now to think about three things you’ve worried about recently. Did anything you worried about actually happen?
This morning I was worried when I hadn’t heard from someone I did some work for last week. I left messages and sent emails, but he didn’t get back to me. So, I worried that he didn’t like what I wrote for him. Finally, today, I spoke to his associate and learned that my client had been out of the country. He hadn’t yet seen what I wrote for him.
Most of the time what we worry about doesn’t become reality. Even when our worries prove warranted, the actual act of worrying doesn’t help or prevent the situation.
Learn to catch yourself when you start to worry, and tell yourself worrying is a waste of precious time and energy. You’ll be surprised how much better you’ll feel.
